Like Herding Cats

Blog

Our weekly blog dedicated to a variety of topics to help you now.

A Long Time Coming, and Welcome!

Welcome to Clowder Consultants blog. The goal of this space is for Aaron and I to alternate weekly posts with some general knowledge about the services our company provides our clients. His posts will focus on some organizational development and leadership, while my posts will focus on the human resources, employee relations, and compliance side.

I’m getting ahead of myself... I’d like to start with how we got here in the first place. Aaron and I have been helping our own employers and our friend’s businesses for over two decades. We’ve coached and mentored them through all the challenges they faced. Their successes were ours, too.

As we were progressing through our graduate degrees, we often talked about formalizing our skills and starting a business. Why not share our knowledge with others? We were brainstorming constantly about what that would look like. Every time we seemed to be in a space to be able to pull the trigger on it, life would through a monkey wrench in our plans. It truly feels like a relief to finally see our ideas come to life.

Our choice of company name always comes with questions. Aaron and I have a pretty quirky humor, which is probably why we choose to have cats. A group of cats is called a clowder. One of our favorite expressions to use when trying to manage our own staff is to compare them to herding cats. It is always challenging and the cats (or employees) often already have it in their minds how – and if – they are going to do what you ask. We thought it was a perfect metaphor for managing a business and developing leadership.

Hopefully some of the information you’ll learn through this blog will help with the little things in your daily business. It will be a general overview, so if you have specific challenges that you need addressed, please reach out to us directly, either here on LinkedIn and Facebook.

We look forward to working with you.
